Be there for them, love and play. They need good people in there life even if your not there parent. They will remember you! :)

As a grandfather, I play with my grandkids - follow their lead and go with it. We make great connections, laughing, and enjoying the time. I think this builds relationship and it makes me feel younger, too! We both benefit.

Everytime I see my 4-year-old cousing I say: "Hi Joe, I'm so happy to see you today," and give him a hug. When I say good-bye I say: "I love you Joe. See you soon." I give him eye contact when I greet him and say good-bye.

Involve children in the everyday work of the center, like setting the table. They get a sense that they are an important part of the community.
